Digital Banner Ads: What’s The Best Size For You?

Digital Banner Ads

Picking an ad size can be overwhelimg. Here are some good options that may be perfect for your business.

Digital banner ads are image ads that are displayed on website pages. They are usually found on the top, middle, and sides. Digital banner ads are a type of paid advertising specifically designed to be placed on certain spots of a website page where they can be viewed by site visitors. Advertisers or publishers typically pay for these ads based on size, location, and duration.

Depending on the preference of the advertiser, the banner ad may contain an image along with the text and logo. The banner ad itself can be static, or it can be animated. The ads also come in different lengths, widths, and heights, which are indicated in pixels. Here are the different digital banner ad sizes available.

Most Effective Banner Display Sizes

Inline Rectangle (300 x 250)

The inline rectangle is sometimes known as a medium rectangle. It is considered the most favorable because it offers enough space for most texts and some images. It is usually positioned in a sidebar where it is most effective in capturing views.

Large Rectangle (336 x 280)

This size is quite popular among publishers and advertisers because it performs quite well. It is also the appropriate size for large ads that are positioned in the sidebars and in the main content.

Leaderboard (728 x 90)

The leaderboard is one of the most popular and often-viewed digital banner ad sizes. It is usually placed above the navigation bar, where it can easily be seen by site visitors.

Square (250 x 250)

In the small-sized category, the square banner ad is a bit versatile and can work well for small or limited spaces. It does not work as well for business ads, however, due to its size.

Small Square (200 x 200)

This is a small-sized banner ad display and not particularly popular because it lacks the appeal of other ad sizes. It has a low rating in terms of visibility and performance.

Banner (468 x 60)

The banner ad is wide like the leaderboard but smaller. It is usually found on top of the navigation bar, although it may be placed within the main content.

Half-Page (300 x 600)

A half-page pays well in terms of visibility because it occupies a good area of a webpage. It is obviously noticeable to site visitors and offers excellent flexibility in terms of the size, design, and content of the ad.

Skyscraper (120 x 600)

The skyscraper is a tall, narrow ad that is perfect for descending text and images. It fits perfectly well in narrow sections of a webpage. It is also noticeable and can be viewed easily.

Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600)

A wide skyscraper is an option for advertisers who want to use descending visuals for their ad but want a more visible banner. Because it is wider than the skyscraper, it has a better impact on on-site visitors.

Large Leaderboard (970 x 90)

Since it is bigger than the leaderboard, this banner size can engage site visitors more effectively. It has a high impact in terms of visibility and appeal.

Button (Different Sizes)

Button digital banner ads are small but visible enough to catch the attention of a site visitor, depending on their color, image, text, and location. Many button ads are call-to-action ads, while others may simply show a logo or an image.
